Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child’s annual flu vaccination is due.

This vaccination is recommended to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and can cause serious complications. Children under the age of five years have the highest rate of hospital admissions due to flu.

Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable family and friends by preventing the spread of flu.

Please complete the enclosed consent form (one for each child) by Friday 11th October to ensure your child receives their vaccination.

The vaccination is free of charge. Your child will be assessed to confirm the most suitable vaccine when you return the consent form. For most children it is given as a nasal spray which is quick and painless spray up the nose.

The healthcare team and nursery will follow guidelines to ensure children are safe when being offered the vaccine. Since the programme was introduced, most children offered the vaccine in nurseries have had the immunisation.

If you have any queries, please contact your GP practice for further information.

If you decide you do not want to vaccinate your child against flu, please return the consent form giving the reason. This will help us plan and improve the service.
