Reception - Summer term

24 April 2026 (by Kim Naylor (K.Bolton))

We have had a fun week back, making the most of the sunshine! The children have come back to school, refreshed and full of positivity which has been a joy to see.

On Thursday, we lead the Easter Mass service, our children who read the bidding prayers were fantastic and we were so proud of them.

This week, we started a STEM challenge that continues our learning of growing from last term. We talked about the things our plants need to grow. We are going to investigate growing in three different ways, 1. With soil, water and sun. 2. Soil, sun and no water. 3. Soil, water and no sun.  We will continue this over the next few weeks, monitoring and observing the growth of our seeds.

SPECIAL DELIVERY....our children were surprised by a special delivery of caterpillars to our classrooms, over the term we will learn about their life cycle whilst caring for them.

Our text over the next few weeks is 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley', where the children will be learning the importance of looking after our environment and this will be supported by our trip to the aquarium on Thursday (30th April). Please ensure your child wears full school uniform for this trip and school will provide packed lunch including a drink.

As we have been enjoying the sunshine over the last few days, please ensure your child has sun cream applied in the morning and brings a labelled water bottle to school to keep hydrated.

If you have any small boxes, like tissue boxes, please donate to school as we will be making instruments over the next few weeks.
